EXCLUSIVE “Gabby Thomas is a Liar” says Man in Social Media Flap with Three-Time Olympic Gold Medalist

The man at the center of the latest controversy in the sport of track and field said he has no respect for superstar Gabby Thomas after he claims she lied about an incident that took place last weekend in Philadelphia. The situation came to a head on social media this week, with the three-time Olympic gold medalist claiming she was stalked and heckled by a fan at the Grand Slam Track meet. The fan, who goes by the social media name “Mr. 100k a day” fervently denies stalking Thomas, but admits he does not like her and vowed to never support her.

“I would never want to meet or talk with her,” said the man, who lives in the Philadelphia area, during a 45-minute telephone interview on June 4 exclusively with Jcoydenreports. “She and her publicist made false statements about what happened. Gabby Thomas is a liar and I do not respect her. I don’t want to talk to her and would not sit down in private with her to discuss what happened because I don’t trust her.”

The man said he is a longtime fan of the sport going back 20-plus years. Married, he says he knows about the at times sordid history of track and field going back to the days of Wilma Rudolph and Ralph Metcalfe. He told Jcoydenreports, he typically does not go to professional events, because he prefers watching up and coming athletes in high school, college and on the travel circuit. He said the only reason he attended this meet was because he wanted some content for his social media pages as he is a digital creator and because it was in the area where he resides.

“I didn’t go to the meet the first day because the weather was crappy,” he said. “I went the second day because I figured, ‘why not,’ and it wasn’t a big crowd. They had blocked off most of the seating at the event so you could really move around and see all of the events. I prefer watching on TV so I can see the replays and how the race develops.”

The man said his intent was never to taunt Thomas at the meet. Instead, he was focusing his ire towards Kenny Bednarek, who he refers to as “Track Spice” because he believes Bednarek and his girlfriend had created a social media handle, which has since been deleted, where they would talk about different athletes under the track spice name. Mr. 100k a day, says it was actually Thomas who figured out who was behind the social media handle so he went to taunt Bednarek about it and Thomas happened to be there.

“The men’s 100m races were taking place right before the women’s 100m in which Thomas was competing in,” he explained. “My purpose was to taunt Kenny, which is why you can hear me on videos yelling out ‘track spice.’ In fact, Gabby laughed at first when she heard it.”

Mr. 100k a day has a reputation for going around to different meets and taunting athletes. He said it is part of his moniker. He said he does it to get inside the heads of athletes because he thinks most track and field athletes of this generation are, “weak mentally.” He describes himself on his X account as the, “Track and Field Bully” and “The King of Track and Field and Sports Betting Dramedy.” He said he does this purely for entertainment, but when pressed, also acknowledged the controversy is good for the algorithms on his social media accounts of which are monetized once he hits a certain number of views and followers on YouTube.

“Yes, I do this for the money, to bring more people to my social media pages and to attract more gambling clients who I advise on how to bet track and field events. It is not really hard to throw a lot of these runners off of their game,” he said. “Back in 2004 I did the same thing to Tim Montgomery and he wanted to fight.”

While he may view his actions as innocent shenanigans and a way to market his persona and business, fans of Thomas and race officials don’t think it is funny. He has been dragged on social media and been called everything from a racist, to an a$$hole. He is taking it all in stride and said he could care less what the public thinks or the athletes either. Grand Slam Track, which ran the meet in Philadelphia, released a statement about the incident between Thomas and Mr. 100k a day:

“Grand Slam Track is conducting a full investigation into the reprehensible behavior captured on video. We are working to identify the individual involved and will take appropriate action as necessary.

“We will implement additional safeguards to help prevent incidents like this in the future. Let us be clear, despicable behavior like this will not be tolerated.”

While many people understand that fans taunting athletes is a part of most sports, Mr. 100k a day went overboard with his comments towards Thomas’ boyfriend in the minds of many. Spencer McManes is engaged to Thomas. He is white. Mr. 100k a day, said he takes umbrage with how the mainstream media places on a pedestal Black women who date or marry white men in the sport of track and field.

“It is not just Gabby Thomas,” he began. “Look at Tara Davis-Woodhall, whose husband is white. Athing Mu just got married to a white guy who is Russian. They prop these white guys up as if they are some kind of trophy and at the same time denigrate Black men. There is an undertone in track and field to discredit Black men. So, me mentioning Thomas’ boyfriend being white as a reason why I was pulling for Mellissa Jefferson (whose husband is Black) to win was not over the line.”

One could argue that Mu, Thomas and Davis-Woodhall are all placed on pedestals by the media because they are highly successful track and field athletes who have all won Olympic gold in their events. Mr. 100k a day comments could also be considered bigoted or the behavior of a jerk at the least. Commentors on his YouTube page blasted him for being hypocritical and mean.

“You didn't just boo, you bringing up these women's husbands. That's corny. ‘Gabby with a white guy and Melissa married a black man.’ My guy you talk like you about black love and support and all you do is clown black folks,” wrote user @namesake7139.

“There was no need for that... That was very disrespectful to any athlete… She is classy and she is a gold Olympic winner,” wrote @beloupa.

However, he also had a lot of supporters for his actions. He said one of the reasons he has turned down interview requests from mainstream media is beause they have already published stories about the incident that are wrong. He believes he will have a better shot at getting his side of the story out through independent media outlets like Jcoydenreports. Many believe he did nothing wrong and have questions about Thomas’ character.

“It’s not the first time she lied for sympathy. She’s just not a genuine person at all and most people that know her will tell you that,” wrote @TrackAnemometer

“100k is within his rights. Heckling is a 1st amendment right, and so is giving the reason why you dislike an athlete,” said user @pierspim4341.

In the interview, Mr. 100k a day does not believe his taunting of Thomas caused her to lose the race, even though he posted on his social media account, “I made Gabby lose by heckling her. And it made my parlay win.”

He said people who do not understand the sport and base who they think will win on name-only are the ones making this claim. He stated that Thomas doesn’t even run the 100 meters and that her events are more the 200 and 400 meters. He said it was a publicity stunt for her and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, who he highly respects, to even run the 100-meter event.

“Gabby couldn’t even break the 11-second mark, which means she is not an elite 100-meter sprinter,” he said. “So, there is no way I caused her to lose the race. There would’ve had for a lot of people to run the worst races of their lives or people falling all over the track injured for her to have won that race and she wasn’t even running against the top sprinters in the world.”

He also is highly disturbed by the notion that Thomas said on her own social media platforms that he followed her around the stadium and taunted her, even while she was signing autographs for kids. He said it never happened and said there is video proof that he did no such thing. He added that he was never confronted by security or police about his behavior, which proves he did nothing wrong.

“This event had drones and television cameras all over the place, in addition to people like myself who have our own video recording devices. All this time has passed an nobody has come out with a video showing me doing any of the things she and her publicist have claimed. What does that tell you?

“I didn’t follow her,” he continued. “After the race I had gone about my business and it was only when she came walking towards where I was that we exchanged words. The videos all prove that. I was walking around trying to get more content and when I looked up, she was walking towards my direction and said something to me. She did this because she was mad and embarrassed, she had lost. Then she made the comments on social media calling me weird. That’s when it got bad and I became angry. She should have just told the truth. This is all a part of her agenda to vilify Black men and it fits with America’s program.”

Mr. 100k a day said while all publicity is good publicity, the sport of track and field has been taking its lumps in the past few months. The arrest of men’s sprinting star Fred Kerley twice this year for separate incidents is a black-eye to the sport. Adding to that is the incident at a high school in Virginia where a competitor struck another competitor with a baton during a relay race and was charged with assault. A high school boy in Texas has been charged with the stabbing death of another athlete during a meet as the teens were waiting out a weather delay. This week, officials in California stripped the title of the girl’s 100m state champion for a post-race celebration that they said was unsporting conduct.

He also cleared up reports that he has been banned from the sports betting site FanDuel. He said he doesn’t even have an account. He said he makes his money off of the bets his clients make. When they win, he takes a percentage of the win, he claims.

In terms of what he thinks of the Grand Slam Track organization itself, he doesn’t believe what they are trying to do is going to work, even though he understands the concept. He thinks the business model is wrong.

“I think it will fail because they are not taking care of the customers, the fans and their experience must come first,” he said. “You can’t run any business where the customers are not put first. Michael Johnson is catering to the athletes needs first. I get it, because they are paid peanuts and he is a former athlete. But as a business model this won’t work.”

Attempts were made to seek a comment from Thomas’ publicist Ilana Taub of Gold Tree PR regarding the claims made in this story. There was no response to our email request for an interview.

One thing for sure, Mr. 100k a day is not planning on stopping anytime soon. He is relishing in his role as the aggravator and continues to poke fun at Thomas regarding the incident. He sent Grand Slam Track, Gabby Thomas and her publicist the following message on X June 5:

“The media and social media mentions over my parlays in the last 2 days has brought me over 200 new clients!!!! They all want my parlay picks!!! Thanks for the free advertising!!”
